The Boss CE-5 Chorus Ensemble is a versatile modulation pedal known for its clear and spacious chorus textures with extended tonal control. The analog design provides smooth and controlled modulation that adds width and dimension to both clean and driven guitar sounds, making the CE-5 suitable for subtle enhancement as well as more pronounced spatial effects.
This particular unit has been carefully modified to improve stability, transparency and overall response. The power supply filtering has been refined to make the circuit less sensitive to variations in incoming voltage, resulting in quieter and more consistent performance. All capacitors in the signal path and bypass circuit have been replaced with high-quality components with equal or increased capacitance values, contributing to a more transparent signal reproduction and a broader frequency response.
The LFO section has also been adjusted to allow more precise control over modulation behaviour, enabling more accurate setting of the chorus characteristics and improved usability across the pedal’s range. There is a small hole in the enclosure beneath the yellow tape.
As a Made in Taiwan Blue Label example, this CE-5 combines the familiar Boss compact construction with carefully implemented studio-oriented modifications that enhance clarity and controllability while preserving the recognizable Chorus Ensemble character.
