The Avantone BV-1 is a multi-pattern tube mic with a warm, classy sound most often associated with vintage German microphones. A hand-selected 6072A tube and custom Cinemag output transformer put forth tons of headroom with low noise, while the custom-tuned capsule gets all the detail and nuance there is without ever sounding too bright or harsh. Lead vocals are, of course, the BV-1's bread and butter, giving a present sound with authoritative midrange. It comes with a handy pop filter which mounts directly to the microphone to let you get up close and personal on the track without annoying plosives ruining your recording. For drums and louder sound sources, you can flip on the -10dB pad on the body of the mic to prevent distortion at your mic preamp, while a gentle 80Hz rolloff cleans up the mud on bass-heavy sounds.
