Strymon has ventured into cabinet simulation waters before, with the Cab Filter on pedals like the Big Sky Reverb and the Lex Rotary, but with the brand-new Iridium, Strymon gets into amp simulation and impulse responses like never before.
The Iridium offers the tones and characteristics of three historic amps—the Fender Deluxe Reverb, Vox AC30 Top Boost, and Marshall Plexi—along with nine stereo cabinet impulse responses and adjustable room ambience. Almost as if you've found yourself with free rein amid a great amp collection.
The amp settings are labelled Round (for the Deluxe Reverb–like settings), Chime (for AC30), and Punch (for, of course, the Plexi). From there, you have adjustable Drive and three-band EQ knobs. The Cab impulse channel offers three for each amp type, and you can download numerous cabinet variations from the Strymon website (or third-party sites) to load, test out, and find your favorites.
The Room knob controls the level of reverb, with settings for Small, Medium, and Large rooms and up to 256-millisecond decay times.
Featuring mono and stereo outputs, an 1/8-inch headphone jack, and line- or instrument-level inputs, you can use the pedal easily for live performance, late-night practicing, recording, reamping, or more.
