Fender Releases Billie Eilish Signature Ukulele

It's not uncommon for our favorite musicians—guitarists, especially—to release signature gear that's designed to showcase all of the characteristics that they personally love in an instrument.

Today, Fender is announcing another such signature model, made in collaboration with pop star Billie Eilish. But the twist is that Billie isn't quite a guitarist, and guitar wasn't the first instrument she learned how to play. Instead, she started on a ukulele, so that's the signature instrument we're getting.

For this new Billie Eilish signature ukulele, Fender has used the star's famous "blohsh" slouching man design for the ukulele's sapele body. The body is finished in matte black and gold and is married to a neck featuring a walnut fingerboard and white dot inlays. The uke also features Nichole hardware and a Fishman Kula preamp, which allows the instrument to be plugged in and amplified.

With respect to the Hawaiian heritage of the ukulele, Fender and Eilish have also pledged a donation to the Hawaii Community Foundation's Aloha Mele Fund. This newly established fund supports nonprofits that provide coronavirus relief to Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities in Hawaii.
