Kunishima NM8 Bowl Back Mandolin w/ Hard Case Vintage Japan

Up for sale is a vintage Kunishima NM8 bowl back mandolin made in Japan.

We just cleaned, restrung, and set the mandolin up here at the shop. It is playing nicely and produces the bright, articulate voice that has made bowl back mandolins popular for generations. The instrument has a warm vintage character while still retaining plenty of projection and clarity.

Visually, this is a particularly attractive example. The spruce top has aged beautifully over the years, while the multi-rib bowl back features striking dark wood construction with contrasting center strips that give the instrument an elegant, traditional appearance. The tortoise-style pickguard and decorative appointments complete the classic look.

Condition is excellent overall, especially considering its age. There are some light signs of normal handling and cosmetic wear throughout, but nothing significant or unexpected for a vintage instrument. The frets remain in very nice shape and show minimal wear. Structurally, the mandolin appears solid and ready to be enjoyed.

The original Kunishima label remains intact inside the body and the instrument includes a hard case for storage and transportation.
