Vox cry baby Wah-Wah 1968 transition clover inductor

Up for sale is a notably rare 1968 Cry Baby wah pedal manufactured in Italy.

While perhaps not as widely known as the standard production models, this specific transition-era version is a genuine rarity, featuring the narrow (or skinny) board and the Clover (or nude Halo) inductor.

As was standard for Italian-market wahs of this period (including the most sought-after Clyde McCoys and early transitions), the circuit is potted in original grey resin. While officially done for durability, it is widely understood in the vintage community that this "potting" was a commercial safeguard to protect the proprietary circuit design from being cloned. As seen in the photos, the clover inductor is clearly visible through the resin.

These narrow board versions feature the exact same circuit and high-grade components found in the Clyde McCoy and early Transition models of the same year; it is simply laid out on a narrower PCB. To show you exactly what is sealed inside, I have included reference photos of a similar pedal from the same period that was NOT potted in resin. It shares the identical circuit layout and componentry as this 1968 model, providing a rare "peek under the hood" to confirm the historical accuracy and component quality of the potted pedal on offer.

Potentiometer and rubber feet are missing and has been replaced with a Castledine pot, the best sounding ICAR replica. Stuart Castledine’s pots are world-renowned for their accuracy to the original ICAR taper, providing a smooth, expressive "talk" that 50-year-old pots can no longer deliver.

The original "crackle" finish shows authentic wear and a beautiful patina consistent with 58 years of history. This is genuine vintage mojo at its finest.

The pedal has been maintained to be a reliable "player" without sacrificing its vintage soul.
