AS Pedals Silver Noise Fuzz

Silver Noise is our version of two legendary pedals: Gary Hurst's Tone Bender MK1 and Hornby Skewes's Zonk Machine, both manufactured between 1965 and 1966. The MK1 became the go-to tone for artists like Jeff Beck (The Yardbirds) and Mick Ronson (David Bowie), among others, in the 1960s.

The Tone Bender MK1 is known for being one of the most untamed, aggressive, and characterful edals in rock history. It delivers a raw sound with distortion that sounds like the amp's speaker is being ripped or torn apart. Aside from some differences in component values, the Zonk Machine is virtually identical. The biggest tonal difference lies in the input capacitor, which is ten times larger in the MK1 than in the Zonk. This results in a greater flow of bass and mids, giving the MK1 a fullrange, guttural attack.

The Zonk is brighter, more compact, and slightly less compressed. Both have a brittle and choppy sound, full of interesting harmonics that produce a distortion that abruptly cuts off the tail of the notes as if they had a very aggressive noise gate built in.

Each pedal is optimized for its transistor configuration to deliver the ultimate fuzz experience. This series utilizes a trio of premium New Old Stock transistors: Texas Instruments 2N1305 in Q1, Black Glass OC45 in Q2, and Texas Instruments 2G308 in Q3. These configurations are matched for their tonal qualities and circuit interaction. All are of the highest quality and have been tested to ensure low noise and excellent tone.

This pedalboard-friendly design is housed in a compact enclosure, with both the jack input and battery switch located on the top. This allows you to easily place it alongside your favorite pedals without sacrificing space.
