DadShoeGazers Small Rodent (Rat Tribute)

This is my take on a Rat. I like germanium clipping in the circuit so I spent some time finding diodes with a high forward voltage that provide a nice granulated sound and still provide the volume response that one would expect. I also, added a "Reutz" pot to the circuit, placing a 1k pot in series with the 47ohm R4 which creates focused frequency clipping. The pot allows you to sweep that focal point around and focus which tones are clipping, with CW focusing on higher frequencies, and CCW lower. This is a super flexible circuit and I really enjoy its low gain voicing in all kinds of settings. Rolling off your volume pot on your guitar can really move it into some warm edge of breakup sounds as well.

These circuits are populated with the finest components that I can get my hands on; NOS Germanium diodes, Alpha pots and Rean Neutrik Jacks. I love building effects and really delight in trying to make them as auditorily and visually enjoyable as possible.
