Amazing Custom PMVA Super Black LED display, Designed specifically for the Access Virus. This display was designed from scratch to perfectly compliment the Virus with ZERO design compromises. It has a number of unique features not usually found on a display of this footprint.
Until now, we've been using off the shelf components to upgrade the Virus. In keeping with our new shop philosophy, we wanted to design a custom 'LUX' upgrade specifically for the Virus, not only operationally correct, but also a visually perfect match for the front panel aperture. Luckily, Access used a large 84x44 type display and a clear viewing window. These 2 things combined, allowed the design of a custom large display. The bezel and character dimensions of this LED display have never been produced before on a 84x44 type.

1. PMVA ( Super Enhanced Black ) LCD Panel.

The performance of this Passive Matrix Vertical Alignment display, completely blows away any standard Twisted Nematic LCD.
Contrast ratio is an amazing 1000:1 !
PMVA is visually indistinguishable from OLED !

2. Custom Optimised Metal Bezel.

Bezel width and height have been specified larger than the Virus panel aperture, then to match the panel hole, the display virtual area is cut the same size. This means in practice, NO light bleeds in around the edges from the backlight and NO metal frame is showing through the clear window. The only thing visible through the window is the Black PMVA glass. Even when the display is switched off it looks better, completely black in appearance. The magic happens when its switched on though:-) Particular attention has been paid to how the metal bezel fits and looks. Everything now looks exactly right.

3. Custom Pixel Size Optimised for the Virus.

Pixel size and positioning were calculated specifically for the Virus. Characters are large, spaced precisely, taller but not too tall as to look goofy. Wide enough to fill the gap but not wide enough to be chopped when viewing the display from side to side. The pixel size and spacing are completely non standard.
Everything has been manipulated to produce 2 rows of text that look Custom in the Virus.
This display will NOT fit in any other instrument ! Everything has been optimised for the Virus only !

4. Virus Menu Optomised Contrast Voltage.

Display contrast is adjusted from the menu as normal 0-127. Off the shelf stuff I've built in the past, required seperate circuits to adjust the contrast, that wasn't ideal. This special custom display, has been optimised to operate correctly Plug N Play from the menu, without any additional modifications.

5. Optimised Desktop Viewing angle.

Correct 6 o'clock viewing angle required for keyboard / desktop use. The viewing angle has been set during manufacture, optimised precisely for the way the Virus desktop and keyboards are used. When the display is adjusted from the menu, its contrast and viewing angles behave in a precise way.

The tooling and production costs, factory MOQ etc for this design were considerable. It will be a while before we break even on the costs. Please keep this in mind before msg about the price. The standard display we used to offee was 50. This one is nearly twice the size and operationally superior in every way. The price reflects the additional design and tooling costs, it's fair for what you'll recieve.

Pls Note !
If your buying this display thinking it's an 84x44, I'll shoehorn it into an E-mu SP-12 1200 etc, that won't happen, without serious major surgery. The bezel on this display is unique and very large. It fits right up within 0.25mm of the Virus mounting posts. Leaving enough room to achieve the bezel, screen and pixel customisation. Only in the Virus is this possible !
The display will NOT fit any other instrument !
