This is one of the first Opera model trumpets made by Olds.  The Opera  first appears in Olds literature on a 1960 price list and was not included in the circa 1957 catalog, but the serial number dates this trumpet to 1958, so likely there is another catalog that has not been discovered or Olds began producing the new model before publicizing it.   It features a nickel silver bell and leadpipe, 1st slide trigger, and a .468 large bore.  Most Opera models have octagonal top caps, bottom caps and finger buttons, but this early one has the same style trim as found on the Super and Recording models.

The finish on this particular trumpet shows a fair amount of wear, but the horn is straight and there are no signs of past dent or solder work.

Most Opera models have the engraving on the side of the bell, but the early ones like this have the engraving on the top part of the bell flare.

The valves appear to be original and have excellent compression and action.

Comes with a vintage King case in very good condition.
