Sansui G-8000 Vintage Stereo Receiver Serviced Recapped Original Box Excellent

Description

This is an exceptionally nice example of the legendary Sansui G-8000 stereo receiver, complete with its original factory shipping carton and original molded foam packing inserts.

The G-8000 is one of Sansui's great late-1970s receivers, combining massive construction and power reserves with the superb tuner and amplifier sections for which Sansui's top receivers of this period are known. This particular example is especially appealing both cosmetically and mechanically and has recently been professionally serviced and tested.

According to the previous owner, the receiver underwent an extensive recap using vintage/NOS components, including discontinued parts. We have included detailed photographs of the interior so prospective buyers can see the work and component population for themselves.

More recently, the receiver was taken to Village Vinyl & Hi-Fi, where the controls were cleaned, bias and DC offset were adjusted, and the receiver was thoroughly tested for proper operation.

The interior is remarkably clean and presents extremely well. Detailed internal photographs are included in the listing, including the amplifier/tuner circuitry, power-supply sections and output stages.

This is also a multi-voltage G-8000. The internal factory voltage selector provides settings for 100V, 120V, 220V and 240V, making this a particularly desirable example for an international collector. The photographs show the original internal voltage selector and its present configuration. Voltage selection should only be changed by someone familiar with the procedure and appropriate fuse requirements.

Cosmetically, the receiver is in excellent vintage condition. Please examine all photographs closely, as they form an important part of the description and show the actual unit being offered.

Also included is the original Sansui shipping carton with the original factory molded foam suspension pieces. Finding one of these receivers with its surviving original packaging is increasingly uncommon and is a substantial advantage both for collectors and for safe transport.

Shipping

This is a very large and very heavy receiver, and we take the transportation of vintage audio equipment extremely seriously.

The G-8000 will be insured for full value with Secursus, and packed with particular attention to its substantial weight, projecting controls, cabinet and faceplate. As noted above, its surviving original factory packaging will itself be protected within an additional heavy-duty outer carton rather than being entrusted directly to a carrier.
