The Octatrack DPS-1 was designed around the concept of a sampling revolution. Combining a next-generation Elektron step sequencer?built on the technical expertise honed through the development of the Machinedrum, Monomachine, and other products?with an innovative audio engine, this single machine offers unprecedented possibilities. The Octatrack is an 8-track performance sampler that makes recording sounds simple and intuitive to control. But the real fun begins once you load samples into the machine. Mastering audio equipment typically requires a lot of time and effort?but the Octatrack has fundamentally changed all that. Loop material is not restricted by tempo or pitch; it stays perfectly in sync even when you change the pitch or the sequencerfs tempo. The hassles of sampling are finally a thing of the past. The CompactFlash card provides constant access to a vast library of samples, and each audio track can play back gigabytes of audio files?all while maintaining time-stretch compatibility. The Octatrack is also ideal for backing tracks. The USB port facilitates communication between the Octatrack and a computer used to manage the contents of the CompactFlash card. Combining audio mangling capabilities that allow you to arrange sample sounds in various ways with real-time sampling functionality, the Octatrack is a true source of inspiration. You can use the sequencer to experiment with multi-track effects, utilize the assignable multi-parameter optical faders, and take advantage of the possibilities for live control during performances. In this way, the Octatrack is a fantastic tool for both studio and live use.
