The Norlin-era Gibson SG Special was nearly identical to the SG Standards of the time, replacing the full-sized humbucking pickups of the Standard model for the newer mini-humbuckers that Gibson acquired in their purchase of the Epiphone factory. While these models did start out with a dot inlay fretboard, this changed to a block inlay pretty early in the run, blurring the lines even further between the Special and the Standard.

This 1974 Gibson SG Special is all original and in great condition. The neck profile is a fairly chunky “C” profile that was a feature of these SG Specials. The mini humbuckers are mini in name only – powerful output that really drives the valves on the amp to breakup, even on the clean settings – nice!

The Walnut finished body has many tiny marks, mainly round the edges, and one on the neck, (we have tried to capture them all in the last 11 pictures) but actually in great condition – comes complete with its original Gibson hard case.
