1980s Casio MG-510 MIDI Synth Guitar – White – Japan – MIDI Needs Repair

Casio MG-510 – Vintage MIDI Electric Synth Guitar – 96 Synth Programs – White – Made in Japan – Needs MIDI Repair

The Casio MG-510 is a fascinating piece of 1980s guitar technology that was well ahead of its time. Combining a traditional electric guitar with built-in MIDI capabilities and synth functionality, the MG-510 gave guitarists access to a range of electronic sounds and MIDI control without requiring a separate guitar synthesizer pickup.

The MG-510 features 96 different synth-style programs and was part of Casio's pioneering MG series of MIDI guitars. These instruments have become increasingly interesting to collectors, synth enthusiasts, and guitarists looking for unique vintage electronic instruments.

Condition / Repair

The MIDI functionality is currently not operational and requires repair.

The guitar itself remains in good cosmetic condition and plays great.

The conventional guitar portion of the instrument is fully functional. The neck is straight, the frets show minimal wear, and the nut and tremolo system remain in good condition.

Cosmetically, the guitar exhibits signs of use including light scratches and minor indentations on the body.

Important Note

This guitar is being sold specifically as a repair project / non-working MIDI unit. The traditional guitar electronics and playing functionality work properly, but the MIDI/synth functionality has not been confirmed operational and needs repair.

A particularly cool opportunity for a technician, collector, or synth-guitar enthusiast to restore one of Casio's iconic vintage MIDI guitars and bring its original electronic functionality back to life.
