Framus existed in its first iteration from 1946 to 1975, manufacturing string instruments of all kinds, like violins, basses, electric, and acoustic guitars. While the instruments were popular in their day—Paul McCartney even owned a '50s Framus Zenith model, with which he composed some of his first songs—the factory eventually declared bankruptcy. But in 1995, Framus was resurrected by Warwick to produce both new guitars, a range of high-end tube amps, and even recreations of Framus' vintage models.
