Vintage Microphone SONY CU1-2 (Pre Sony C-37A). This one features the C-37A capsule that would name the standard model. Manufactured in 1960. Extremely rareThe Microphone is working with no problems as it should. Keep in mind this is an over 60 years device with its original power supply. When you turn it on it needs about 30 seconds to get warmed. After that it delivers that special vocal sound that cuts through the mix from the beginning with almost no EQ or other effects being needed. Directionality can be switched from Ohmni to Cardioid and the power supply offers 3 Position High Pass EQ featuring: Full range (M2), some low end off (M1) and more low end off (V), what they called "voice or vocal" back then... as a way of control sensitivity or presence in the low frequencies for a better and clear cut in the mix.This is a Complete set of:CU1-2 Microphone, cable, dedicated and original power supply, extension cable, exclusive wooden box and microphone storage pouch.The cables are adapted using the original connectors from the 50's in the PSU to a standard XLR connector. The Mic also sports an adaptor to attach to any standard stand so it is ready to use in the studio. It also includes a couple of stand adaptors for other type of stands ( I understand they might be for Europe standards...) that you can see in the pictures.Mic stand shown in pictures is not includedA bit of History:The CU1 microphone is a compact professional condenser microphone developed jointly by Heitaro Nakajima and Sony at the NHK Broadcasting Technology Research Laboratories since 1954.At that time, large microphones such as the NEUMANN M-49 and the RCA77DX were in their heyday. This microphone was the prototype for the later Sony C-37A, C-37P and C-38B.The Sony C-37A, C-37P and C-38B microphones were commercialized and became long sellers, but the CU1 microphone being exhibited was developed for NHK and was not commercially available. Therefore, this is a very rare microphone.
