_______________________________________________________*** VINTAGE & TRADITIONAL GUITARS *** - 29/05/2026._______________________________________________________ACOUSTIC BLUES/BLUEGRASS DOBRO - REGAL RD-40VS RESOPHONIC STUDIO SERIES TOP MODEL, SQUARE-NECK, SPIDER BRIDGE, SINGLE CONE LAP SLIDE GUITAR - Excellent condition, very clean, re-strung, example of the Regal RD-40VS, Spruce & Mahogany, Dobro/Square-Neck Guitar, lap-slide style playing, probably c. 2015.*** N.B.....Please ignore "Product Specs" inserted by Reverb at the foot of my listing details....they are incorrect, showing the wrong guitar model! I have tried but I am unable to defeat Reverb's automated nonsense! ***______________________________________________________Stock Number: VTG1569.*** Excellent example of the Regal RD-40VS Dobro/Square-Neck Guitar for lap-slide style playing. Original production/purchase date not known, but probably c.2015.*** The RD-40VS still appears in the Saga Instruments website, along with the RD-40MS Mahogany version, but the only version which seems to be advertised in the UK currently is the RD-40CHS....personally I much prefer "Vintage Sunburst" over "Cherry Sunburst" on these dobros.*** Extracts from what the makers say about the current Regal RD-40VS model in the "Overview" on the Saga Instruments current website......"At the top of the line of our Regal Studio Series Resophonic Guitars, the RD-40 has been designed from the inside out making it the best value when it comes to truly vintage-inspired, professional featured, resophonic instruments available."*** "Using our many years of experience in the development and construction of traditional American acoustic instruments, we have also discovered ways to improve upon the most legendary designs from the past without pricing them out of the reach of any level player.Only the finest materials are used to create these designs reminiscent of the past, while still meeting the demands of today's modern players. The body shape takes its cues from instruments of the past; while the real secret to the tone of these instruments lies within. It all starts with a combination of Regal exclusives such as the Tone Chamber for added volume, the Die-cast spider for its bell like response, and a hand-spun aluminum cone. All together work to assure the maximum, most articulate tone that can be heard in any playing situation."------------------------------------------------*** Main feature summary, compiled from the Saga Instrument website and other online details........* Classic body shape, slightly larger than some dobro type guitars. Vintage sunburst gloss finish. Body, neck, and headstock are all bound. 25" Scale Length.* Spruce top and quarter sawn mahogany back and sides recreate the classic look and sounds of the 30’s. Dual screened soundholes.* Original style square profile neck neck has a 2" nut width with a smooth, rich finish provides solid resonance and sustain. Dot-inlaid rosewood fretboard.* Solid peghead with distinctive inlay.* Chrome open gear tuners with butterbean buttons.* Golden Gate’s patented spider and US-made spun aluminium cone resonate with crisp clarity. Die-cast aluminum spider bridge and hard maple bridge inserts.* Saga’s patented "Power Reflex" chamber produces unsurpassed volume and tone with sound baffle plate and relatively open body cavity to allow for a big, full sound.* Fan style cover plate and tailpiece are chrome plated____________________________________________________________*** Excellent condition....very clean with no significant marking to body or fittings, only minor normal use.*** Set-up.....Dobro Lap-Slide set-up - String height, with standard tall dobro nut @ 1st. fret is 12mm., @ 12th. fret is also 12mm.*** Strings....fitted with D'Addario EJ42 Phosphor Bronze Resophonic Guitar 16-56 gauge strings....rather than the previous Nickel strings seen in the photos!*** There is no case included with the guitar. I may have a period (more like '50s/'60s, than '30s!) pressed fibreboard case to fit, but old cases of this type, are not generally very robust or well-fitting...alternative option might be a used but serviceable padded gig-bag, but a dedicated hard case with interior neck rest designed for dobro square neck may be more challenging to find.*** Here & in my Vintage & Traditional Guitars website I have embedded a YouTube demo of same model guitar.....also some additional details, further links to YouTube videos etc. are available there.I have restricted the wording here to a basic outline, so please do fully research the details provided on my VTG website, and contact me for any further information in order to fulfil your purchase.Thank you, Bob Chaffer, Vintage & Traditional Guitars.---------------------------------------------------------------------------
