About this listing
"Phase Ranger is an analog phase shifter pedal offering two distinct varieties of classic, vintage-inspired modulation in an easy-to-use, micro package. At the heart of Phase Ranger is an octet of precision-matched VCAs that produce silky smooth linear phase shifting with remarkable dynamic range, low-noise performance and crystal clear sound. Standard knobs for Speed and Depth dictate the rate and intensity of the syrupy phase tone offered by Phase Ranger. The two LFO controls are joined by a single, push-button toggle switch that selects either 4-stage or 8-stage phase shifting. The 4-stage mode takes you straight to the late 1970’s with a wide-open, groovy sound. The 8-stage mode creates a more complex and detailed phaser previously found only in high-end studio gear from the glory days of analog synthesis. Available exclusively at Guitar Center."Pigtronix Phase Ranger is one of the very few VCA phaser pedals:"VCA (Voltage-Controlled Amplifier) phaser pedals utilize voltage-controlled amplifiers to modulate all-pass filters, offering a cleaner signal-to-noise ratio and smoother response compared to traditional JFET or optical designs. This technology avoids the grainy artifacts, brittle peaks, and reliability issues often associated with vintage photo-resistors or obsolete JFETs, while maintaining a 100% analog signal path for warm, organic tones.VCA phasers are generally prized for their modern precision, low noise floor, and wide modulation range, capable of handling everything from subtle swirls to chaotic, ring-mod-like textures.
