About this listing
I am selling this 1981 Ibanez AS-50CH guitar on behalf of a mentor. He is a professional musician who has worked with major artists for decades. It has been well cared for by a professional. The 1981 Ibanez AS-50CH was crafted in Japan by FujiGen during the golden era of Ibanez’s semi-hollow designs. The AS-50 model delivers classic tone and premium craftsmanship in a compact body that’s about 15% smaller than the standard AS series, offering exceptional comfort without compromising resonance or sustain. This particular guitar comes in the rare Cherry finish, produced in far fewer numbers than the more common Tobacco Burst. The guitar features a laminated maple body with ƒ-holes, ivory binding, and a hard rock maple center block, paired with a set-in birch neck and a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with ivory binding and pearl dot inlays. Electronics include Ibanez V2 humbuckers with individual volume and tone controls, offering everything from warm, articulate cleans to smooth, driven tones. Hardware includes a Tune-o-matic–style ST bridge, Quik Change tailpiece, aftermarket tuners, and a bone nut — all hallmark components of FujiGen’s early ’80s precision and quality.Condition: The guitar is largely original, with the exception of replaced tuners. Please note the holes in the headstock from replacing the tuners. Overall, for a 45-year-old instrument, it remains in excellent playing condition and sounds fantastic. The guitar is set up with .12's.The guitar comes with a hard shell case in great shape. It has minor marks from normal use. Please see the detailed photos, as well as my positive reviews and fast shipper rating. I am happy to answer any questions you might have or relay them to the owner.-Brian
