About this listing
This 1953 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop is truly in amazing condition! This is a second-year example, featuring the model’s second design with a wrap-around tailpiece rather than a trapeze. Very well-preserved for its age, you’ll find only minimal wear throughout the guitar, aside from expected weather checking. The gold finish remains fairly clean and bright, and the same goes for the cream pickup covers and pickguard. This chunky neck feels amazing to play, and coupled with these two full-bodied P-90s, this guitar is a player’s dream. As with nearly every Goldtop from this year, the action with the original wrap-around tailpiece is quite high, so a low-profile repro example has been applied to get it playing just right but the original remains inside the case.
