About this listing
Here is a unique Fender Stratocaster from mid-1958—dating from just about a year before Leo Fender, under pressure from his enterprising partner Don Randall, introduced the first major changes to production. Two things stand out immediately: a weight of just 3.2 kg and a one-piece neck made of beautifully flamed maple. The instrument was played extensively by its original owner and refretted around 1968, retaining the original fret wire size. As was often the case with this type of work, much of the finish on the fretboard was removed. Otherwise, the instrument remains in a heavily played yet original condition. There is one exception: while the pickups, 3-way switch, and wiring are completely original, the potentiometers were replaced at a later date. The volume pot dates to 1986, and the two tone pots date to 1995. The body bears a date stamp of 5-58 in the pickup cavity, while the neck is stamped 8-58. The (original!) case naturally shows signs of age, but it is free of damage, and the latches function perfectly.generalModel Name: StratocasterColor: 2-ToneSunburstWeight: 3198 GrammSNR: 30053Strings: .010-.046 GaugesbodyBody Material: 2-Piece AlderBody Finish: Nitrocellulose LacquerneckNeck Material: 1-Pc.
