About this listing
1976 Fender Musicmaster amp, just recently serviced and sounding great. These 12 watt 1x12 combos were designed as small bass amps but have found favour as guitar amps with people like Dan Auerbach and Noel Gallagher amongst others. There were three variants produced between 1972 and 1980, with 6AQ5 or 6V6 valves, and this one with 6BQ5/EL84s. All use a single 12AX7 preamp valve and an unusual transformer phase splitter. Controls are just simple Volume and Tone. This particular amp has received the "Harvard mod" on the tone control along with a few other things to improve performance and safety. The feeble original speaker has been replaced by a Fender badged Utah from 1971.The cabinet is sound but has had some unexplained previous alterations (see the filled screw holes in the sides). The grille is a replacement as the amp had a bit of random cloth tacked across the front when I got it. The back panels are also new, replacing missing ones. The original handle is still on top and Fender slides have been added on the bottom where the feet were missing. While it may not be the best example cosmetically this amp has just been serviced and is sounding great.I have some other interesting stuff for sale so please have a look.
