With the Telecaster Custom Shop Deluxe from 2013 the Fender Custom Shop has combined the classic Tele design with modern features and a unique appearance. The AAA quilt maple top in a beautiful, glossy “Faded Honey Burst” finish and the Sperzel locking tuners with pearloid pegs are enough to take your breath away. The AA flamed maple neck is also enchanting and plays excellently with a stronger C profile, one-piece maple fingerboard with abalone dot inlays, 22(!) Medium Jumbo frets and contoured heel. And on the amp the sound keeps the promise of the look! The two “Twisted Tele” singlecoils, hand-wound by Abigail Ybarra and with increased output, live up to this great name: brilliant, clear and twangy, they are a “clean” force both on the neck and in the intermediate position. But you also get your money's worth with distortion as the bridge pickup delivers fat and smacking Rock planks. This great combination is rounded off by the built-in Greasebucket tone circuit.
