Whether it's an 1176-style compressor, a U 87-style condenser mic, a Pultec-style EQ, or other studio standards, Warm Audio looks to replicate such classic gear and make it affordable.

Their newest is the WA-67, a large diaphragm multipattern tube condenser mic inspired by the Neumann U 67, one of the most desirable vintage mics from the 1960s.

The tube at the heart of the mic is an EF86 pentode, which Warm Audio says will create "the same smooth and creamy tone of the original."

Vocals, acoustic instruments, drums—all of these will benefit from the tube's added character and subtle color.

Of the WA-67's brass capsule, the company says, "We went to great lengths to recreate the capsule from the original ’67, making sure that ours performs the same way, has the same frequency response and contributes to the same chewy character as the original."

Warm Audio's shootout with the WA-67 and a vintage Neumann U 67.

The mic also features a Lundahl transformer, a nickel-plated brass body and headbasket, and selectable polar pattern: cardioid, omni-directional, and figure 8. For additional versatility, the WA-67 has a selectable high-pass filter and 10dB pad.
