Midnight Oil Is Selling Vintage Amps, Guitars, and More in Official Reverb Shop

Today, we at Reverb are excited to announce that we're partnering with Sydney's Global Vintage Guitars to sell nearly 40 pieces of music gear collected and used by Midnight Oil over the past four decades. Beginning Thursday, November 15 in the U.S., or Friday, November 16 in Australia, fans can take the opportunity to own a piece of the Oils' illustrious history.

Forming in the mid-'70s, Midnight Oil became beloved for their uncompromising attitude and energetic live shows, breaking through to larger popularity with 1982's 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. After continuing to release albums like Diesel and Dirt and Blue Sky Mining and touring regularly until 2002, the band took a long hiatus before reuniting for 2017's Great Circle World Tour.

"After last year's Great Circle Tour, our gear storage locker is completely full. We want to pass these instruments on to musicians who will appreciate and use them," said guitarist/keyboardist Jim Moginie. "Some of the items we're selling have been used more than others, but everything has been broken in by the band in one way or another."

The Official Midnight Oil Reverb Shop will feature musical instruments and gear collected and used by the band over the past 40 years, including a 1963 Fender Jaguar (refinished and modified with Strat-style knobs), a 1965 Fender Mustang, and a 1974 Mellotron M400. Also included in the sale are:

  • An early 1960s Guild Starfire and a 1964 Gibson SG Junior used live and in studio by guitarist Martin Rotsey.
  • A 1962 Fender Jazzmaster bought by Midnight Oil for The Great Circle World Tour in 2017.
  • Several Vox AC30 amps, which are a staple in Midnight Oil recordings and live shows.
  • A 2004 Hiwatt DR103 amp head and matching 4x12" cabinet used during the 2005 WaveAid benefit shows and the 2009 Sound Relief benefit concert.
