Recent Epiphone "Inspired By Gibson" '61 Reissue SG Standard with custom, hand-painted Eric Clapton/Todd Rundgren/Cream "the Fool" psychedelic paintjob. Pickups and ALL WIRING is replaced with Gibson USA components!
I used to make these somewhat regularly about 15-20 years ago... but, other projects have kept me from doing any. I also have a companion Fool Squier Bass Vi like Jack Bruce played in Cream in a separate listing now.
The guitar came from the factory in a matte white, which was ideal for the artwork! The "Inspired By" series is very cool. They have put a lot of attention to detail to the vintage specs and present a much more authentic look, feel, and sound. The original pickups and wiring harness in this one have been replaced with Gibson '57 Classics and USA Gibson SG wiring harness.
I remove all the parts, and then, I meticulously hand-paint the iconic psychedelic swirls and images that evoke the Trippy 1960's and the AMAZING music of Cream. Disraeli Gears is a great example of the incredible music made by the Psychedelic SG. I seal the artwork with a thin nitrocellulose clearcoat. The guitar looks, sounds and plays great! You will enjoy this guitar immensely! It is ideal for a Cream Tribute Band! Or, just hang it on the wall and enjoy the art! There are photos at the end for some comparison.
The hardshell TKL case has the Cream logo from Ginger Baker's bass drum head in the same trio from 1967, hand-painted and sealed.
