About This Listing

Wow.. As rare as hen's teeth!!

These old Marshall Tall 4x12 bottom cabs that Hendrix and Clapton used on the bottom of their stacks are the coolest looking things on the planet.

And here's your chance of getting one: an original 1966 Marshall Tall Bottom cab with all 4 x 1966 G12M Celestion Greenbacks!
Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Pete Townshend, Jeff Beck, Ritchie Blackmore, Jimmy Page... They all loved the look, sound and feel from the Tall Bottom cabs. made their top cab at exactly the right height, speakers pointing straight into the pickups of their axes.
Early Tall 1960B cabs are known to have been out by mid 1966, Cream had them at Windsor Fest at end of July 1966, and without "100" logos. They were described by Marshall as "75W". So it seems likely that the very first Tall 1960B cabs had 75c/s G12M 20W's (i.e., T1221s).
So whats up with this cab? - The Tolex and "cane" Brown Basketweave grill cloth have been recovered by Marshall around 2000 as it was completely worn off (previous owner says "sorry"...) and the Gold mid 60's Marshall Logo was replaced.
The most important parts though are original:
- 1966 Tall Bottom cabinet
- Metal handles and metal handle cases - 60's nuts and bolts for the speakers - ink stamp of rim of the speakers "ghosted" on the wood surrounding the speaker holes
- and.. the Celestions!
4 x 1966 Celestion G12M T1220 Greenback's 1966 G12M T1220 8Ohms 20WATTS 75cs Pre ROLA 13 JL (13 sept 1966) 1966 G12M T1220 8Ohms 20WATTS 75cs Pre ROLA smothered date stamp 1966 G12M T1220 8Ohms 20WATTS 75cs Pre ROLA 07 JL (07 sept 1966) 1966 G12M T1220 8Ohms 20WATTS 75cs Pre ROLA 25 HL (25 Aug 1966) with earlier style 'manilla' gasket
- All speakers test fine and work without issues - Original 52/003 and 51/003 pulsonic cones (mid 1966)
- Thames Ditton Surrey - Made in England stamped in the cover and the frame - Date stamps on the front gasket ring
- Smooth one tab metal chassis - Made in England impressed in the Green cover as well as the chassis. - White coils - Little circular Quality Control 44 stamp on the front gasket ring. (This little circular stamp is usually overlooked by most people, but is a very important stamp to look for on pre-rolas. 9 out of 10 times, it will be missing on fraudulent speakers)
