Built back at the start of the third decade of PRS, before computer fabrication and their budget line out of Korea, this CU24 is their original flagship model with some notable time-tested improvements. The US-made CU24 offered here is indeed mint. Minimal fret wear, no dings on headstock, neck or body. All electronics in tip top shape. OHSC and Ernie Ball string set included. Kept in a smoke-free, temp/humidity controlled studio environment, it was used generally for hard rocking power solos. No strum marks or swirls in the finish. (Note: in fretboard photos the apparent wear coloration is actually a reflection from a window behind the camera. The same reflection appears in multiple closeups.)
A new specimen at shop prices much higher won’t buy a better or cleaner guitar. The C neck is fast, the volume/tone speed knobs are handy and control whichever of the five pickup settings you choose from the rotary selector. (See the paperwork photo for a description of the available pickup combos.)
The CU24 appears on many shortlists of “the best guitars.” It is indeed a versatile and highly playable instrument. The first time I picked up a CU24 it felt like the guitar was playing itself and taking me along for the ride. I am the original owner.
