Steve Ferrone's Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, Pearl - 6.5x14" CL-8114D Free Floating System – One-Piece (Solid) Maple Snare Used in Studio, Signed Head! 1990's (SF P #1)
In the world of "first call” drummers, Steve Ferrone is the first one they call. Just ask Michael Jackson, Eric Clapton, Phil Collins, George Harrison, Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie, Rick James, Slash, Chaka Khan, Bee Gees, Al Jarreau, Mick Jagger or Johnny Cash. When iconic bands like Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Average White Band, Duran Duran and Aerosmith needed to replace their “irreplaceable” drummers, Steve Ferrone was the guy who stepped up.
Steve has amassed a stellar collection of drums over his 6 decade career. Every drum is exceptional. Nothing made it into Steve's collection that wasn't worthy of being played with Tom Petty, Eric Clapton, George Harrison or any of his A-list bandmates. These drums excelled under the microscopic scrutiny of the greatest record producers of our time.
Steve is making room for some new arrivals and decided to give some of his old drums a new life. He's offering several pieces of the collection to buyers who can appreciate their history and hopefully keep making great music with them.
Pearl - 6.5x14" CL-8114D Free Floating System –Maple Snare
This drum is from Steve's personal collection of studio snare drums. It's been in steady rotation since the 1990s. It's basically a “best of both worlds” snare: the maple shell brings warmth, body, and sensitivity, while Pearl’s Free Floating chassis allows for exceptional resonance.
Features:
- Free Floating System chassis design + no holes drilled in the shell (shell resonance is less choked by mounted lugs)
- Shell: Maple
- Hoops / tension: 10-tension SuperHoop
Serial Number: 801639
Includes a pair of Steve's signature model drumsticks and a COA signed by Steve Ferrone.
