This microphone was certainly produced to be a more premium offering compared to the SM58 and implemented a triple laminated beryllium diaphragm, very thin yet durable. The result of this type of design was a very smooth response with no peaks and a deep natural sound. If you've been looking for an extremely durable microphone that might surprise you, grab one of these. I prefer the sound from these Yamaha mics over the Shure almost every single time!
