The FX500 is a great multi-effects processor so, you can have Compression, Distortion, EQ, Reverb, and Modulation can be used simultaneously or selectively brought in or out of the patch path. Included are several Reverbs, Delays and Echoes. Choruses, Flangers and Tremolo make up the modulation circuits. There is no MIDI out or thru, so it only works either at the end of a MIDI chain or by itself on a port. The distortions are passable but to me are best used to add grit to the other effects
