For sale is a beautiful vintage Technics SA-800 stereo receiver. This receiver has
been fully electronically restored by a former Pioneer Authorized
Technician who serviced and sold these receivers when they were being manufactured.
All features and functions work perfect, and exactly as Technics intended.
Receiver has had all electrolytic capacitors replaced with new, high quality Nichicon audio grade capacitors that have been individually tested before being installed, to ensure the best components went into the restoration. All solder connections on every circuit board have been checked and re-flowed as necessary, for maximum conductivity, and to ensure no broken/aged solder joints.
Power amplifier heatsink & outputs have been removed, cleaned, and new thermal compound applied to ensure the best cooling possible. 3 of the 8 output transistors have been replaced with New Old Stock original TO-3 output transistors, as the originals were non functional. The original 71v 15,000uf large can capacitors were replaced and upgraded with new nichicon Gold Tune audio grade 80v 22,000uf capacitors. All push buttons, switches, and potentiometers have been cleaned and lubricated with CAIG deox-it products. All controls sound, and feel as Technics intended.
Original light bulbs were removed, and replaced with new custom fitted RGBW LED's to give a proper and unique LED upgrade to this receiver. There is NO HOT-SPOTTING. The display is bright, vivid, and evenly lit for a smooth and clean look. User can select any color they desire, or, if color isn't your thing, keep the lights natural white. Dimmable brightness, and color changing modes can be selected by the user. For the purist: The entire original lighting circuitry is still fully intact, and a set of new incandescent bulbs will be included should the new owner choose not to use the LED lighting (which can be turned off by the remote control for the lights).
Original 3-piece cover has been modified to a one-piece cover with some other aesthetic changes to the style to give it a clean look. The wood cabinet is veneered with a custom Kosipo woodgrain, finished in 6 coats of clear satin for a beautiful sheen. The original worn out power cord was removed and a new 3-prong IEC modular power jack installed in place - can remove the power cord when transporting the receiver, and the cord itself (included) is much higher quality, and now has a ground.
AM/FM tuner section is in perfect working condition, and picks up many stations, some even without an antenna. Excellent stereo separation and sound quality from this tuner!
All Auxiliary, tape, headphone, and phono inputs, and respective outputs, have been tested as well and work perfect, no issues. This receiver is ready to rock out of the box!
