This is a custom built "theme" horn, largely Kanstul parts, but with French Besson braces and pull knobs.
The trumpet started it's life as an early "Besson International" made under contract by Kanstul. The original bell was damaged beyond repair. Keeping with the English Besson tradition, the serial number on these contract horns was on the bell, so there is no serial number on the valve casing.
The bell is a one-of-a kind taper that Zig Kanstul made that is a copy of a Besson bell made circa 1908. It's analogous to a Benge 2X, with a quick flare at the end. The bore of the horn is .460" ML. Anderson Silver Plating did the finish plate. The valves were refitted by Mark Metzler and have been broken in by the builder, who played this horn for some months.
The tone is further focused by a "Harmonic Water Key Plug" made by BAJOC Music in Michigan.
How does it play? It's all about brilliance, it's not a small group horn. Cutting, edgy, the bell design was from a day of no microphones - you either got heard, or you didn't.
Does not come with a case.
