The ARX Quadcomp is a classic 4-channel analog compressor/limiter housed in a single 1-rack-unit (1 RU) steel chassis. Manufactured by Australian pro audio company ARX Systems, it is widely recognized for its clean build, punchy dynamic character, and space-saving design.

Key Design and Circuitry Characteristics

4 Independent Channels: Offers four full compressor/limiter circuits that can also be paired into two stereo-linked pairs (Channels 1–2 and 3–4).

Class A VCAs: Utilizes Class A voltage-controlled amplifiers paired with 2-pole averaging RMS/DC converters for smooth, program-dependent attack and release behavior.

Sound & Character: Often compared by engineers to vintage analog units like the DBX 160 VU, known for delivering a distinct, punchy "thwack and pop" on percussive sources like drums.
