A 2013 Historic Collection 1958 Les Paul has arrived.
The 2013 Historic Collection is still highly regarded today as a model that was significantly refined to more closely match vintage specifications.
This particular instrument is a 1958-spec reissue model featuring a fat neck grip that delivers punchy bass tones and a light-figured maple body with a subtle grain pattern that lends it a distinctive charm.
With semi-transparent tuning machine buttons, a nylon nut, and aniline dye filler applied to the neck grip and body back, you can enjoy a more natural patina over time.
The use of hide glue for the neck joint and fingerboard reduces string vibration loss, while the tailpiece studs and stud anchors have been recreated in the long style used in the 1950s, allowing string vibrations to resonate deep into the body and producing a rich, deep resonance.
The guitar is equipped with the newly developed Custombucker pickup, which faithfully reproduces the playerfs nuances.
Although itfs slightly on the heavy side at 4.15 kg, its punchy bass and high-end tones with quick attack and rich sustain make chord tones stand out, and it delivers just the right amount of bite even when distorted.
In addition to the natural patina of the paint and parts typical of the VOS finish, there are scattered scratches and dents from use and aging, and rust and discoloration are visible on the metal parts.
There is some paint reaction on a portion of the body back, which is believed to be caused by the casefs interior lining.
There is a crack inside one of the control knobs, but it does not affect playability.
Although it shows some signs of use, the instrument has been fully serviced and cleaned at our repair center, and playability is excellent.
