A very cool early Japanese BOSS BF-2 Flanger, made in Japan in July 1983.
This is a vintage Black Label example from the early MIJ period, featuring the classic analog BF-2 circuit and the unmistakable character of the original Japanese-made units.
This particular pedal was modified by a previous owner with a Chorus Mod and an added push-button switch. The modification gives the BF-2 an additional smoother, more chorus-oriented modulation character, while still retaining the distinctive personality of the original flanger circuit.
The added push-button switch makes the modification especially useful, allowing you to quickly change the modulation voicing rather than being permanently locked into the modified sound.
With the RES control kept low, the pedal can produce a warm, wide and surprisingly chorus-like modulation — great for clean chords, arpeggios and subtle vintage-style movement.
As the RES control is increased, more of the familiar BF-2 character comes through, with deeper movement, metallic sweeps and more pronounced flanging.
This makes the pedal an interesting and genuinely useful variation on the classic BF-2. You still get the unmistakable character of an early Japanese BF-2, but with an additional chorus-oriented flavor available from the added push-button switch.
It is a particularly nice option for players who love vintage BOSS modulation but want something a little different from a completely stock BF-2.
Please note that the Chorus Mod and push-button switch were installed by a previous owner, and the pedal is therefore no longer in its original factory circuit configuration.

Accessories
Only the items shown in the photos are included.
This BF-2 was originally designed during the BOSS ACA power-supply era.
Unless the power section has also been modified, please use a BOSS ACA adapter or a suitable 12V center-negative power supply.
Using a standard modern 9V PSA-type adapter by itself with an original ACA-spec circuit may result in improper operation, and the CHECK LED may appear very dim or may not illuminate correctly.
A 9V battery can also be used.
