Custom Rega RP1 / SME 3009 Turntable

A seriously interesting one-off turntable that has found its way into Silver Stereo Revival.

This is a Rega RP1 base with an upgraded motor assembly, combined with a Linn Sondek LP12-style arm mounting base and a classic SME 3009 tonearm.

Definitely not something you see every day. Someone has gone to the trouble of combining these components into a unique custom deck, creating a rather fascinating mix of Rega, Linn and SME engineering.

The SME 3009 is a classic tonearm and a highly sought-after piece of vintage hi-fi in its own right. Mounted here on the modified Rega platform, it gives the turntable a completely different character from a standard RP1.

I’ve added the current RPM and flutter test after lubricating with 80-90w gear oil to spindle.
