The Beta 58A is a supercardioid dynamic vocal microphone built around a neodymium magnet and a shaped frequency response tailored for close-miking vocals. Supercardioid polar pattern tightens rear rejection compared to a standard cardioid, which reduces monitor bleed and stage noise pickup. The hardened steel mesh grille and internal shock-mount provide mechanical isolation. This is a working professional vocal mic with a well-established track record on live stages and in studio tracking situations.

The Beta 58A features Shure's neodymium magnet structure, which yields higher output than a standard dynamic — useful for driving long cable runs and lower-noise preamps. The shaped response delivers a presence peak in the upper midrange and controlled low-frequency rolloff when used close to the source.
