Founded in part by Stevie Wonder and famed inventor Ray Kurzweil, Kurzweil’s keyboards have become an industry standard, used by artists ranging from Amanda Palmer to Trent Reznor to Weird Al Yankovic. From the K2600 onward, Kurzweil’s effects have drastically improved and pushed the boundaries of what was initially thought possible of synth keyboards, introducing hyper-realistic sampling and even vocoder capabilities. Its current flagship series, the PCx models, are far more portable and have exciting new features such as virtual analog synthesis, a powerful effects processor and better sounds. There’s a reason Kurzweils were one of Richard Wright’s favorites.
