JG66, Crafted in Japan with Serial P007698 , 1999 - 2002 manufacturing date. The neck on this has all the traditional vintage specs that people love. This guitar is well loved but in good playable condition. With all original parts, except the tremolo bar (but will ship with a compatible non original tremolo bar!). It has some cosmetic flaws so please read the description carefully and inspect the pictures.
At Kuroko Guitars, we do out best to clean up the instrument, set up the instrument with proper action and intonation, and ship with proper packaging. The guitar will be strung up with a new set of Ernie Ball Slinky 10's and will be ready to rock with its new owner. Please check out the detailed description below and let us know if you have any questions.
Frets
Frets are in good condition. 2mm width, between 0.91mm and 1mm height. I'd say about 70-80% left. There are some visible string indentation on the lower frets but you can't feel them and it does not affect playability. Overall they are not in brand new condition, but they are very playable.
Neck
Traditional vintage jaguar specs at 42.5mm nut width and 7.25 inch neck radius. Neck depth is 21mm at 1st fret, 25mm at 12th fret. Unbound rosewood fretboad on maple neck. There are some small finish chips on the side of the rosewood fretboard (see last picture). They can barely be felt and is not unusual for a played guitar of this age.
Truss Rod and Action
Truss rod has room to turn both ways. I adjusted it to give proper relief to the guitar and the action without buzzing is 2mm on the low E at the 12th fret and 1.75 mm on the high E at the 12th fret. Does not have a neck shim and probably doesn't need one.
Body / Finish
Beautiful candy apple red. Overall the body has seen some wears but still looks great. Weighed in at 8.3 pounds.
There are tiny dots in the finish above the bottom pickup (see second to last picture). Not sure what happened, looked like the previous owner got really angry and stabbed it with an ice pick. There are some scratches on the back of the body. There are smaller dents, and two finish peels on the bottom of the body (see third to last picture). Neck pocket has some finish peels on the bottom side (see fourth to last picture).
There is a scratch on the pickguard near the pickup switches. It looks like a crack, but it is cosmetic and does not affect the integrity of the pickguard.
Hardware
This does not come with the original tremolo arm. But it does come with a non-original one that fits and has a cream colored tip (see 4th picture).
The tremolo unit is original and works well. Locking button works well.
I replaced the saddle screw on the bridge with brand new ones, since the original was rusty, but I will ship with the original saddle screws.
Pickups and Electronics
Traditional Jaguar wiring. Pickups are unusually not RWRP, so no hum cancelling in middle position, but they sound great. Measured resistance was 6.2k ohms on neck, 6.3k ohms on bridge, typical vintage spec for a Jaguar.
