Up for sale is a legendary, highly sought-after modern classic: a 2002 Gibson Flying V Faded in authentic Faded Cherry.
The early-2000s "Moon Inlay" Faded series has developed a massive cult following among Gibson enthusiasts for good reason. Produced for a very limited run, these early models feature a gorgeous Ebony fingerboard paired with distinctive Ebony-style Crescent Moon inlays—a combination you simply cannot get on standard models.
Because these guitars feature a ultra-thin, raw nitrocellulose finish, the wood breathes completely, giving this V an incredible acoustic voice and massive sustain. Loaded with its factory-original high-output Ceramic Humbuckers (496R in the neck / 500T in the bridge), this guitar serves up classic Gibson growl with tons of bite, tight low-end, and effortless high-register scream. It's a pure, uninhibited rock machine.
This guitar is in remarkably good condition overall for its age and especially considering how easily these thin faded finishes tend to show heavy wear. It remains 100% all-original and comes complete with its original, heavy-duty TKL hardshell case.
Why Early 2000s "Moon Inlay" Faded Vs Are Special
Real Ebony Fingerboard: Features a silky smooth, dark Ebony board that provides a snappy attack, incredible note definition, and a premium feel under your fingers.
Crescent Moon Inlays: A unique aesthetic touch only found on these specific early-run Faded series guitars before Gibson switched back to traditional dots and rosewood.
Gibson 496R & 500T Humbuckers: High-output ceramic magnet pickups that deliver unmatched power, bite, and harmonic clarity through high-gain rigs.

Condition Report
Body & Finish: Remarkably clean overall given the year and finish type. Faded finishes usually show heavy wear, but this one has been exceptionally well cared for. For full transparency, there are only a few minor corner dings on the tips/edges—very typical for any Flying V that's been stored or lightly played. No major gouges, deep finish bare spots, or structural issues.
Neck & Headstock: The neck is arrow-straight, the truss rod operates perfectly, and there are no headstock cracks or repairs whatsoever. The frets show minimal wear with tons of life left.
