Retrovox Custom Bogen GA-2 Vintage Desktop 1.5W Guitar Amplifier

The Retrovox GA-2 is a custom desktop guitar amplifier built around a vintage Bogen GA-2 commercial amplifier. Originally designed for commercial audio applications, it has been professionally repackaged into a compact Retrovox enclosure with modern connectivity while preserving the original character of the circuit.

The custom enclosure is 3D printed in textured black PETG with an understated industrial aesthetic inspired by vintage laboratory and broadcast equipment.

This unit features an original 1961 Linmark AT-40 constant-impedance L-pad repurposed as the volume control, paired with a genuine 1970s chicken head knob. Unlike a conventional potentiometer, the wirewound L-pad attenuates the speaker output while maintaining a relatively constant load on the amplifier, making it well suited to this low-power vintage design.

Standard 1/4-inch input and speaker output jacks replace the original RCA and screw-terminal connections, making the amplifier easy to integrate into a modern guitar or studio setup.

The original internal AC power supply has been retained, so no external wall adapter is required. The amplifier has been bench tested and operates as intended.

Because this amplifier incorporates vintage electronic components, minor cosmetic wear consistent with age may be present on the original internal chassis.

Includes only the amplifier shown. Speaker cabinet, instruments, cables, and other accessories used in demonstration photos are not included.
