This is my own Fender Prodigy II from 1992. The Prodigy II featured the Kahler 2720 Spyder double-locking system and was manufactured from 1992 - 1993, making the Prodigy II quite the rare guitar. The Kahler 2720 is functionally equivalent to the Floyd Rose system, but was made in the USA and of a higher quality than comparable Floyd Rose licensed systems.

This guitar has 2 important upgrades. Fender's stock humbucker has been upgraded to a DiMarzio humbucker with a coil splitter switch. The DiMarzio's markings indicate it was a proprietary pickup that was transferred to this Prodigy so I can't confirm the model, but the impedance reading is 8.84 with hex pole pieces which would make it a Super 2 (DP104). There is a 2 way switch for splitting the coil of the humbucker to make it a single coil giving this guitar a very versatile set of tones to work with. The jack has been moved to be side mounted making it more ergonomic for playing.

The guitar is in very good condition. There is normal strum wear on the pickguard but almost no buckle rash or wear on the back. There are 4 small flaws. There is a dent in the upper edge of the contoured body as indicated in 2 photos. The pickguard has been cracked at the horn and at the base behind the tone knob from a previous owner over-cranking the screws. The pickguard is completely shielded on the backside so it stays intact even when removed. The edge of the headstock has minor edge damage. Fret wear is normal and not requiring any immediate work.
