Rocking the professional features that have made Spector basses coveted by top bassists worldwide for over four decades, the Spector NS Pulse 4 gives you a sleekly sculpted body carved from solid swamp ash for a bright, deep, punchy, and authoritative tone. Topping the body is exquisite quilt maple, adding more than a dash of visual elegance while giving your sound a touch of brightness. The fast 3-piece roasted maple is topped by a silky-smooth 24-fret Macassar ebony fingerboard. Spec'd with premium EMG P/J pickups as well as the acclaimed Spector TonePump Jr. active preamp system, the NS Pulse 4 is a high-performance instrument that delivers the tone, playability, versatility, and sophisticated visuals today's bass players demand. The NS Pulse 4 holds down the low end in style. That's largely thanks to a pair of powerful EMG pickups, fitted in tone-enhancing reverse-P/J configuration. This arrangement gives you the low-end punch from the split-coil EMG P pickup in the middle position, along with the aggressive growl from the J-style single-coil at the bridge. The reverse split-coil configuration maximizes low-end articulation, while rounding out notes played on the high strings. This makes total sense in a P/J-equipped bass, as you can dial in as much high end as you want with the bridge pickup and the active 2-band EQ. Mix up your signature blend, and you're ready to rock. The NS Pulse 4 includes Spector’s TonePump JR active preamp. This preamp employs JFET-based circuitry rather than op-amps, which yields many tube-like characteristics. When you overdrive an op-amp (something that happens at the peak of nearly every note you play), it clips and needs a moment to recover. This results in a perceptible tone loss. Like tubes, the TonePump’s JFET-based circuitry doesn’t do this. Rather, it softly distorts, producing a second harmonic that fuses seamlessly into your note. Beyond that, the signal right after the peak comes through loud and clear — no recovery time required. We’re really impressed with the clarity of this preamp — it makes a world of difference! Drawing upon decades of industry-leading design, Spector's Euro Series basses are handcrafted using the finest tonewoods and components. A production version of the renowned Spector NS bass, the NS Pulse 4 boasts high-end features such as powerful EMG pickups and premium active electronics. Decked out in stellar finishes across the entire line, the NS Pulse 4 continues the tradition of quality and innovation started by Stuart Spector in 1976. Features:
