The RG has been the benchmark for high-performance rock and metal guitars since the late '80s, and the RG470DXW is a solid example of why the formula still works. It's built around the things that made the RG famous — a fast neck, a floating trem, an HSH pickup layout — and packages them at a price that doesn't require a lot of justification.
The neck is a Wizard III maple profile: thin, flat, and built for speed. If you've played an RG before, you know exactly what you're getting here. The jatoba fingerboard adds a bit of snap and warmth to the response, and the 24 jumbo frets cover everything you'd want across two full octaves. Meranti body keeps the weight manageable and contributes a slightly scooped midrange character — not a bad thing when you're running high gain.
Electronics are Ibanez's Quantum HSH configuration: ceramic-loaded humbuckers at the neck and bridge, an alnico single-coil in the middle, running through a master volume, master tone, and 5-way selector. The Edge-Zero II tremolo handles the floating bridge duties with a stud lock function for tuning stability when you're pushing the dive.
Wine Red Frozen Matte finish with black hardware throughout. Comes with locking nut. Ships with a tremolo arm and hex key. No case included.
