Gibson / 1956 J-45
"A rare guitar with hidden modifications"
1956 marked a change not only to the pickguard, but also to the internal bracing.
J-45s prior to 1956 featured scalloped bracing, characterized by a bright, spacious sound. However, the new model now features non-scalloped bracing, resulting in the tight, powerful sound unique to the J-45.
-A distinctive J-45 tone...
The body top is crafted from spruce and finished in a sunburst finish, a gradation of black, red, and yellow paint.
It features a generous amount of black paint adorning the edges.
The sides and back are made of densely grained mahogany.
The natural-colored finish allows you to enjoy the beautiful, even grain of the mahogany.
The fingerboard is made of beautifully flowing rosewood with a rich grain.
The contrast of light and dark tones will captivate anyone who plays it.
The neck is made of mahogany, and its moderate thickness ensures a comfortable fit without feeling too thick.
The rosewood upper belly bridge features short saddles, delivering a crisp yet sustained sound throughout the entire body.
The pickguard specification changed from a small pickguard to a large pickguard in 1955.
The headstock features a Gibson silkscreen logo and a 17-degree headstock angle.
The tuning machines are equipped with KLUSON triple tuning machines with white buttons.
There are traces of filled screw holes on the back of the neck.
The marks are larger than the tuning machine bushings, suggesting that the guitar was probably equipped with Grover chromatic tuning machines.
This rare instrument, featuring non-scalloped bracing, delivers the distinctive sound of the J-45, a sound that continues to this day.
It remains in excellent condition, with no major cracks or signs of repair except around the sound hole.
Transitional models are rare and highly sought after.
