Classic American-made Muscle for Your Low End

The Fender American Professional Classic Mustang Bass weaves a temporal tapestry of out-of-time tone shaping, vintage panache, and modern playability. The iconic short-scale bass taps historic Fender style and substance, supercharging it with contemporary performance power, including the vintage-inspired yet hot-wound sound of the Coastline ’70 Mustang Bass split-coil pickup, alongside the Greasebucket tone circuit and the lore-diver-approved charm of bringing back Fender’s scantly used Lollipop tuners — features that have gigging bassists raring to rip up the stage. On the future-facing front, Fender’s luthiers opted for the preeminent playability of the Modern “C” neck, boasting a sleek fretboard with a 9.5-inch radius. Marrying premium tonewoods, timeless style, and contemporary performance, the sonic soul of golden-era Fender beams with modern pro-grade brilliance within the Fender American Professional Classic Mustang Bass.

Time-tested tonewood foundations

For the American Professional Classic Mustang Bass, Fender elected for a performance-proven tonewood dyad: alder and maple. The alder body — as the bass’s sonic cornerstone — anchors your sound in a well-balanced profile, renowned for its incisive attack, enduring sustain, and upper midrange punch, giving you the power, transparency, and articulation your bass tones need. Smoldering warmth, spectrum-spanning heat, and clear note-separating brilliance arrive with the maple neck. Up top, the matching maple fingerboard doubles the deluge of dynamism and definition brought by the maple neck, ensuring every lick, lead, support, and solo is voiced with uncompromising detail.

Iconic coast-to-coast character

Foundational firepower abounds on the Fender American Professional Classic Mustang Bass, and no effort was spared to ensure its suite of sonic circuitry could bring the bass’s latent potential to life. To rev up your rig, this Mustang marks the debut of Fender’s Coastline ’70 Mustang Bass split-coil. This pickup channels the sound of its namesake era and then turns up the heat, thanks to increased coil winding, delivering robust stage-proven tones with a soaring modern edge. What’s more, this Mustang comes with Fender’s Greasebucket tone circuit, allowing you to sculpt and shape sound and rein in cloying highs, all without sacrificing precision or clarity — your low end stays focused and preserved.

Built for every lick — Lollipops, included

Laying down low-end licks is a pastime for the shorter-scaled basses, and this Mustang is built to fire on all cylinders. Performance-tier hardware from across the eras starts with a little-known appointment, even among the more studious 6-string scholars — Lollipop tuners. For only three years (1965 to 1968), Fender’s Jazz (’65 to ’66) and Precision (’67 to ’68) basses enjoyed this eye-grabbing hardware, and the American Professional Classic basses brought ‘em back, with serious stability and style in tow. Add in the vintage-style 4-saddle bridge, satin-finished neck, and classic full-body contouring, and the Fender American Professional Classic Mustang Bass is the optimal gateway to bringing historic, US-built Fender craftsmanship to your rig.
