Danelectro '59DC Long Scale Bass Guitar - Copper Burst

The Danelectro '59DC Long Scale Bass Guitar in Copper Burst is a striking instrument that blends vintage aesthetics with modern playability. Here’s a detailed description:

Design and Finish

The '59DC Long Scale Bass features the classic double-cutaway design that Danelectro is known for, with a sleek and retro-inspired Copper Burst finish. This finish gives the guitar a warm, metallic sheen that stands out on stage, offering a unique visual appeal that pairs well with its vintage vibe.

Body and Construction

This bass guitar has a semi-hollow body made from Masonite, a material that Danelectro has historically used. The lightweight construction not only contributes to the instrument’s distinctive tone but also makes it comfortable to play for extended periods. The semi-hollow design adds a bit of natural resonance, giving the bass a warm, full-bodied sound.

Neck and Fingerboard

The long-scale neck (34 inches) is constructed from maple and features a rosewood fingerboard, which offers a smooth playing surface with a classic feel. The neck is designed for comfort and ease of play, making it ideal for bassists who prefer a longer scale for better tension and deeper bass tones.

Pickups and Electronics

The '59DC Long Scale Bass is equipped with two high-output, single-coil “Lipstick” pickups, a signature feature of Danelectro instruments. These pickups are known for their bright, clear sound with plenty of bite, giving the bass a distinctive tone that cuts through the mix while still providing a solid low end. The electronics include a simple but effective control layout with a 3-way pickup selector switch, volume, and tone controls.

Hardware

The hardware is designed to complement the vintage aesthetic of the bass. It features a traditional bridge with individually adjustable saddles, ensuring precise intonation and tuning stability. The tuning machines are reliable and hold the pitch well, even during extended playing sessions.

Sound and Performance

Tonally, the Danelectro '59DC Long Scale Bass is versatile, offering a range of sounds from punchy and bright to warm and mellow. It is well-suited for a variety of music styles, including rock, pop, blues, and even jazz. The long-scale length provides a tighter string tension, which bassists often prefer for more defined notes and better playability in lower tunings.

Overall, the Danelectro '59DC Long Scale Bass Guitar in Copper Burst is a distinctive instrument that blends vintage style with modern functionality, making it a great choice for players looking for a bass with character and a unique tonal palette.
