*In order to keep compliance with Reverb seller policies, this guitar is listed as mint, but is brand new and will ship in the original box. I only remove the instruments to test/inspect/photograph for the listings. I'd rather find a blemish and note it on the pics then have you be surprised when you open the package!*
Note: All guitars ship USPS and will be fully insured for the cost of the instrument
Just listen to the audio clip, no description necessary for this one!
*Note that the audio clip includes both a full mix and a drum/bass only mix so you can hear the bass in both settings.*
This bass is an absolute monster, both in looks and function. The EMG-HZ pickups do a tremendous job for providing low end, without loosing clarity, and also add a nice presence in a mix. If I only had one word to describe the sound, it would be "presence." I bought this bass originally to track in the studio, but realized that four strings just aren't going to be enough for some of the extended range material I wrote. If I can find a five string version of this bass for the right price, I'll be set.
In terms of finish, the spalted maple top/headstock finished in satin is stunning to look at, and the 5 pc neck through is very comfortable. The neck has a good chunk to it, and is very effortless to play. The bridge is also very comfortable, and the volume/EQ knobs have a notch, so you have a reference point for tailoring your sound.
As far as tuning machines go, I wasn't too impressed with them. They will get the job done, but for a bass originally priced upwards of a grand, I would expect to find Grover or Schaller tuners. As noted in the pictures, the tuning keys had a coating on them when I opened the box, which I was able to remove. There is still a slight "pitting," which is purely cosmetic. I was able to find some slight blemishes on the finish, and a clearly noticeable touch up on the fret board, which I was also a bit disappointed with Schecter for a bass of this price point. Hey, at least they give you a free cable!
All that aside, this bass is an essential workhorse for the studio or the show, and despite these few blemishes, Schecter never forgets about the leftys.
