The now infamous 1U SSL4000 clone buss compressor from Stam Audio. Don’t bother trying to procure one from this Argentinian company, their shipping and manufacturing is notoriously sketchy… while the gear is phenomenal. A catch 22. I waited 13 months to have this one built years back. When I kept asking where it was they ignored me for 6 months and kept my money. Like hundreds of other reported buyers, I had to threaten with a lawsuit to get them to finally respond, which they did by ripping my head off via email. While this piece of gear has frustrated and infuriated me, it does sound very good so... yea. Point is, avoid the headache and buy this one instead.
Look online and you’ll see they take payments and don’t always build the gear right away… or the same year you pay for it. Crazy business model but I digress. Read on gear space forums of the dozens of people who never even got the units they paid for. It’s a total crapshoot, or at least it was when I bought this in 2014. Point is, better to buy these used and avoid an attack on your coronary system.
This one works flawlessly with no issues at all. Super clean as you can see. Pushes about 15-20db of makeup gain too. Same settings as SSL. Other than a slight crinkle on the cheap logo paint (see last pic), the unit is in pristine condition. These are going up in value and everyone wants one… or a real SSL of course ;) so grab it now and take advantage that there’s even one for sale. These do not always come up locally used on US soil so US buyers can enjoy super fast shipping (goes out same or next day).
